Dr. Lifeng Sun is a Senior Advisor at V&T Law Firm specializing in international infrastructure and alternative dispute resolution. He holds a German law doctorate and a Chinese postdoctoral degree in engineering management, and serves as an arbitrator for China Maritime Arbitration Commission (CMAC) ,Shanghai International Arbitration Center (SHIAC) and Shanghai Arbitration Commission (SHAC).

 

Before joining in V&T, he worked for China Ministry of Railway and Chinese National Railway Group Corporation, as well as Zhong Lun Law Firm. Dr. Sun has rich experience in overseas infrastructure projects. During his employment in China Railway, he Spearheaded legal work of major ‘Belt and Road’ railway projects, including Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway project (Indonesia), Boten-Vientiane railway project (Laos), Budapest-Belgrade railway project (Hungary & Serbia), Thailand railway project, Lahore Orange Metro Transit System (Pakistan), etc.

 

In recent years, Dr. Sun has acted as both counsel and arbitrator in multiple high-value dispute cases administered by the Singapore International Arbitration Center (SIAC), the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce Arbitration Institute (SCC), the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), and the Shanghai Arbitration Commission (SHAC).

 

He also provided legal consulting services for China National Nuclear Corporation's acquisition of the Roxin uranium mine in Namibia and the Simandou railway infrastructure project in Guinea. He led and accomplished multiple research projects on equity cooperation and risk prevention for China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. and China Railway Design Group Co., Ltd. Dr. Sun has published one monograph in German and docents of articles on legal and economic issues in English and Chinese.
